Ian Welsh OBE is Chief Executive of the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (The ALLIANCE) and has extensive experience in the public, private and voluntary sectors in executive, non-executive and consultancy roles.
He was Director of UK Services for the Dublin head-quartered, international and not-for-profit Rehab Group, leading a family of charities throughout the UK working in care, supported employment, rehabilitation and training.
As Chief Executive of Kilmarnock Football Club, he led the club through a period of business and footballing success building a number of innovative community programmes.
He served as a non-executive Director of the Glasgow Prestwick Airport and then in an executive capacity as Director of Human Resources and Public Affairs.
He is the Chair of Ayr United Football Academy and Ayr Gaiety Partnership Limited and is also a board member of Borderline Theatre Company Limited.
He is a member of Ayrshire and Arran Health Board, chairing its Staff Governance Committee and currently Chair of East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Integration Board.
After a ten-year period on the Court of University of the West of Scotland Court, he stood down as Chair of Court in January 2016.
Ian has a joint honours degree in English Literature and History, a post-graduate teaching diploma, a post graduate diploma in professional studies in education and a Masters in Educational Management.
He currently sits on a range of Scottish Government Programme Boards.
The ALLIANCE is a national third sector intermediary for a range of health and social care organisations. The ALLIANCE has over 1500 members including a large network of national and local third sector organisations, associates in the statutory and private sectors and individuals.
